A wide range of fringe events, installations and exhibitions take place across Milan to coincide with Salone del Mobile, which are collectively known as the fuorisalone. A monumental outdoor fused glass installation is the first to greet visitors to Lasvit’s design, architecture, and glassmaking exhibition for Milan Design Week 2024. In the courtyard of Palazzo Isimbardi, the installation ‘Re/Creation’ stems from the properties of the glass, the main material used in the project. Lasvit showcases the results of extremely hot melted glass being allowed to relax and spread before it takes on the shape or form of the surface or object it is going to lie down on.
The layout of the exhibition, created by Lombardini22, takes cues from neurosciences to optimize and enhance the visitor experience. Milan design week is the world's most important design event, anchored by the Salone del Mobile furniture fair and featuring shows and events in hundreds of venues across the city's design districts. The outdoor installation is joined by its sibling, designed by Lasvit’s Art Director Maxim Velcovsky who hopes to spotlight the relationship between glass and architecture. Entitled Porta, the monumental piece underlines Lasvit’s artisanal glass facades, showing visitors the various facets of fused glass. Crafted in Europe’s largest glass kiln, this installation peers through how the brand adapts to the size and variability of glass, all the while meeting the demands of architectural projects. In the pantheon of glass- and crystal-making, the rope—a long and hollow element crafted from hot twisting and stretching molten lava—is one of the most technical to achieve. Used widely as a connector, or a “branch,” in chandeliers, it is also one of its most unsung, as designers would rather draw attention to the dainty decorations that hang off it.

Overall, “Cool Love” by Pablo Cruise is a song that celebrates a different kind of love. Its soothing melody and heartfelt lyrics capture the beauty of a connection that doesn’t require words or grand gestures. It reminds us to appreciate the simplicity and tranquility that love can bring into our lives. As for me, this song will always evoke memories of a special road trip and the cool love that blossomed along the journey.

Whether you’re discovering it for the first time or revisiting it with fondness, the song’s ability to evoke intense emotions remains unparalleled.
